Abstract
|

Bone marrow fibrosis is associated with a poor prognosis in patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML). It is present at initial diagnosis as well as in CML transformation. Although the effect of interferon-¥á therapy on marrow fibrosis has been controversial, imatinib mesylate has shown significant activity to reduce CML-associated bone marrow fibrosis as well as Philadelphia chromosome-positive cells. We report a case of reversal of marrow fibrosis after imatinib mesylate therapy in a 67 year-old female patient with CML refractory to interferon-¥á.
